"Jesus said, 'Let the little children alone and do not stop them from coming to me;
For it is to such as these that the kingdom of Heaven belongs.
Then he laid his hands on them and went on his way". Mt. 19:14
We joyfully invite families to begin the journey of preparing their children to receive the beautiful Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
These two sacraments are powerful moments of encounter with Jesus Christ:
First Reconciliation (also called Confession or Penance) is when children receive God's loving mercy and forgiveness for the first time. They learn about the importance of saying sorry, making peace with others, and how God is always ready to welcome us with open arms.
First Holy Communion is when children receive the Eucharist—the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Christ—for the very first time. It is a sacred moment when they are united more closely with Jesus and the Church. Through the Eucharist, we are spiritually nourished and strengthened to live as followers of Christ.
This is a special time of grace as children come to know the love, mercy, and real presence of Jesus in the sacraments. Through prayer, formation, and parish support, we walk together as a faith community to help children grow in their relationship with Christ and His Church.
Who Can Register?
Children entering 2nd grade and above in September 2025 who have been baptized in the Catholic Church and are ready to begin sacramental preparation
Before registering your child for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, we ask that your family be registered at St. Michael Church or in one of the Eastside Catholic Parishes of Snohomish County, Holy Cross (Lake Stevens), or St. Mary of the Valley (Monroe). If your family is registered at another parish, we need a permission letter from your parish priest.
As part of our program, your child must attend weekly First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion classes during the 2025-2026 school year, and your family must attend Mass every Sunday.
